The 5500 Series Quarter Midget Shock rates as one of the most ingenious designs of a down sized shock. Designed by Chet Fillip of ARS, the new quarter midget shock is a mono-tube design. It utilizes a floating piston to keep the oil and gas in the shock separate. The shock also utilizes a base valve which is located between the main piston and the floating piston. The base valve allows for no rod pressure without oil cavitation.
The low drag shaft seal does not leak. This lets the shock valving do all the dampening and not the drag of the shaft seal.
The pre-loaded shim stack on the main piston provides for high speed dampening unequaled in any quarter midget shock on the market.
The unique bleed plate check valve, which is located at the bottom of the shaft, creates a precise low-speed dampening to properly control weight transfer and corner transitional speeds. The bleed plate allows you to change the low speed dampening(compression and rebound) without changing the bleed in the piston or removing the shims from the main piston.
The black, hard anodized body has a detent in the adjusting nut to lock the adjusting nut in place in 1/4 turn increments. The slotted spring perches provides for super fast and easy spring changes.
